May
May proved to be a very good month for cases, with the NZXT Noctis 450 and Fractal Design Define S both turning out to be solid bits of kit. However, looking back, it's really the Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX that stands out the most. Small form factor chassis are generally more interesting anyway, and this was the first dedicated ITX case from Phanteks, which had previously launched numerous very impressive ATX models. While the EVOLV ITX definitely isn't as premium in its build as many of the other Enthoo cases and really needs an exhaust fan to be installed to help with CPU cooling, it still delivers oodles of quality for £40 and we still find ourselves recommending it to friends and colleagues.
While Nvidia had already launched the GTX Titan X, the GTX 980 Ti was the card gamers were really waiting for, as it delivered practically all of Titan X's performance for much less money. It was the first single GPU card to really give a decent experience in 4K gaming and it proved to be a very potent overclocker as well. Add to this the fact that it launched before AMD's Rx 300 series had even got going and it was undoubtedly a strong show of force from the green team.
